Askimet – Filters out spam and is automatically installed with your WordPress.
You must get an API Key from WordPress –http://en.wordpress.com/api-keys/ Sign up for a WordPress Account at http://www.wordpress.com After signing in to your account,Click on My Account in the upper left corner,select Edit Profile and at the top of that page you will see your Askimet Key Number. Copy and paste the number into your Askimet plugin.
Event Calendar (Event Calendar Widget) –http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/event-calendar/ –show a calendar in your sidebar with upcoming events.
Contact Form 7 –http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/contact-form-7/ –a great way to customize a contact page or create surveys,applications and forms.
Really Simple Captcha –http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/really-simple-captcha/ –for use with Contact Form 7 to keep computer bots and spiders from collecting sending automatic spam to your email.
Pro-Player –http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/proplayer/ –upload videos to YouTube and other popular video hubs and see them on your website.
Wp-db-backup – http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-db-backup/ –easy backup to server or to your computer
Gd-star-rating – http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/gd-star-rating/ –let your users rate your posts and pages
Mappress-google-maps-for-wordpress – http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/mappress-google-maps-for-wordpress/ –have a Google map of your business on your website
Google Analytics –http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/googleanalytics/ –this is a plugin to make integrating Google Analytics into your WordPress site easy
Lightbox 2 –http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/lightbox-2/ –enlarges your photos while darkening the background of your site
Postie –http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/postie/ –just write an email to post to your website (special email account must be set up)

It is imperative that you keep all your WordPress installations up to date,your plugins and themes as well. Read about updates here.
Wp-Security-Scan –excellent plugin (Also,uses Website Defender) –a must for wordpress installations
Wp-firewall –blocks attacks and reports them to you through email
antivirus –can’t have enough security –install them all!
Make Your WordPress Site Mobile Friendly!
http://mobify.com/ –Go to Studio Sign In or Registration and follow directions to make your site mobile friendly.
You can edit your Header by going to “Dashboard/ Appearance / Editor / Header (on right)”place the copied code from Mobify before the </head>tag.
